Base Furnishings was tasked with furnishing two showhomes at Trent Park, a residential development in North London. Positioned near Cockfosters and surrounded by green space, the setting called for interiors that felt refined and calm, while giving each home a strong individual character.
Trent Park’s location and setting shaped the brief as much as the floor plans did. The development sits close to the city and its extensive public transport network, while also being surrounded by parks and golf courses that give it a picturesque feel more commonly associated with country living. Our showhomes were designed to reflect that balance, presenting a sophisticated, high-end lifestyle while still feeling family-friendly, relaxed and liveable.
Our interior designers approached the project with two complementary design directions. As the homes are located in different areas of the wider development, each needed its own style, atmosphere and sense of identity. One scheme used deeper colour, richer contrast and statement detailing to create a more dramatic interior. The other introduced lighter-toned furniture, soft finishes and reflective surfaces to capture natural light and create a bright, open feel.
The result was a pair of curated interiors that shared the same premium standard, while telling a different story in each home.
The interiors had to feel high-end and well put together, but not overly formal. They needed the polish expected from a premium showhome, while also carrying the character of a lived-in home.
Our key design tasks were:
● Create two showhome interiors with unique styles and personalities.
● Use furniture to enhance space, proportion and natural light.
● Introduce character through accessories, artwork, photography and lifestyle-led details.
● Design family-focused rooms that felt imaginative, practical and memorable.
● Balance timeless neutral schemes with bolder colour in secondary rooms.
● Deliver and install the scheme quickly and efficiently.

Light played an important role in both showhomes.
In the first home, Unit 4, lighting, tonal contrast and darker colours were used to create a cosy atmosphere and a high-end feel. The furniture anchored the interior without overwhelming the rooms, helping the home feel polished, comfortable and well put together.
In the second home, Unit 112, lighter furniture and finishes were selected to enhance natural brightness. Creamy colours and soft materials reflected natural sunlight, dispersing it throughout the rooms and creating a strong sense of openness.
Our interior designers looked at how each room would be experienced in person and how that experience would translate on camera. Showhome interiors need to perform in both settings. They must feel comfortable during a physical viewing, but they also need to photograph well for websites, brochures, social media content and sales materials. Ensuring that lighting works well in a space is essential to creating a strong first impression.
This showhome featured a large open-plan living room with a kitchen island and plenty of space for a dining area and a generous corner sofa. The use of oversized furniture added weight to the interiors and created a high-end feel while keeping the design liveable.
Accessories such as kitchen appliances, cooking ingredients, plates, utensils, cushions, throws and decorative pieces gave the space character, while reflecting the aspirational lifestyle of prospective residents.
The bedrooms used large furniture to showcase the home’s potential and create a more luxurious feel. Boucle and other soft fabrics helped create warmth, while dark colours contrasted against lighter tones to form a dynamic and memorable presentation.

This five-bedroom home was furnished with memorability and practicality in mind. A rounded corner sofa acted as the feature piece in the living room, with extra-thick, gently curved cushions upholstered in a tactile rust-coloured velvet fabric. Two round coffee tables and a low occasional chair completed a classy lounging corner.
The home also featured a home office setup, a children’s bedroom and a music-inspired bedroom, each adding a different layer to the overall interior story.
The children’s room was decorated with toys, colourful interiors and playful details. A feature wall showcased a whimsical picture of hot air balloons, while Roman blinds with air balloon fabric carried the theme through the room. A small rug created a soft play area and helped the room feel imaginative, warm and family-focused.
The music room offered a memorable moment for viewers. It featured photographs of famous musicians and concerts from the previous century, giving the room a strong sense of personality. An acoustic guitar stood in one corner, as if ready to be played, while a turntable player on one of the bedside tables added another lifestyle-led detail. The room created a strong visual impression and gave viewers something distinctive to remember the showhome by.

Showhomes are one of the most important tools in residential property marketing. They translate floor plans into relatable interiors.
For developers, a showhome needs to support the sales journey, strengthen brand perception and help viewers connect with the lifestyle potential of the property. For BTR operators, furnished apartments and show units need to communicate quality, durability and long-term liveability. For estate agents and property professionals, a well-presented interior can make a viewing more effective and a property easier to position.
At Trent Park, Base Furnishings delivered showhome interiors designed to present a refined look that also works commercially.
